CITY OF SAN FERNANDO —The three rice producing provinces of Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Zambales in Central Luzon will receive a total of 246,000 bags of certified inbred seeds from the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice).
This is in support to the hybrid rice production program and food security agenda.of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
The seed distribution was held during a ceremony last Thursday at the Diwa ng Tarlac Convention Center in Tarlac City.
About 300 farmers initially received 20 kilos each—part of the 78,000 sacks set to be distributed to rice farmers in Tarlac province—of the of the inbred rice seeds varieties such as NSIC Rc 160 and NSIC Rc 534NSIC Rc 222, Rc 480, Rc 160, Rc 218SR, Rc 436 and Rc 534.
Some 130,00 bags of the inbred rice seeds have been allocated for farmers in Nueva Ecija.
